The reasons to use this instead of 7404 are the followings:
1. It supports higher voltage (60V vs 5V of 7404);
2. It's single channel (there are 6 inverters in 7404) which makes it more cost effective for application where only 1~2 inverters are needed.
It could be turned on/off by Arduino / Raspberry Pi.
