How to set the background color of a picture to transparent in PowerPoint

This is a quick summary of how to set the background color of a picture to transparent in PowerPoint (for Office 2010).

1. Assuming that we have a photo of a laptop in PowerPoint. The photo has a white color background.



2. Double left click on the photo to bring up the Format menu. In the menu, click on the Color icon (circled in red).



3. Select "Set Transparent" (red arrow).


4. Note the message on the bottom left corner. Move mouse pointer to the white color area of the photo and left click on it to turn it into transparent.

5. The background is now turned into transparent.


Note, if there are multiple photos that need to be made with transparent background color, please repeat step-2 to step-4 for each individual photo.
