How to create a new Telegram Bot and obtain the access token

This is a quick summary of how to create a Telegram Bot and obtain the token for later use.

1. From a computer, download and install Telegram App from https://desktop.telegram.org/

2. Launch the Telegram App.

3. Search for botfather by entering "botfather" in the search field.

4. Click on "BotFather" to launch it.

5. Click on "START" to start the BotFather Telegram Bot.

A list of available commands are listed on the right side of the screen.

6. Use the /newbot command to create a new bot. BotFather will ask you for a name and username, then generate an authorization token for your new bot.

Note,

- The name of your bot is displayed in contact details and elsewhere;

- The username is 5-32 characters long and case insensitive, it may only include Latin characters, numbers, and underscores. The username must end in ‘bot’, e.g. ‘tetris_bot’ or ‘TetrisBot’.

Make a copy of the token given by BotFather to access the HTTP API. Below is a sample token that I made up for reference:
