Fan controller that enables control and monitoring of DC12V ~ DC48V 4-wire PWM fan over LAN / WAN

This fan controller could control and monitor the speed of 4-wire PWM fan that runs on DC12V to DC48V power supply. The fan speed could be controlled manually by user via a web interface or automatically according to user-define temperature - fan speed settings.

Fans Supported

The controller has been tested to support the following fans:

DC12V Fan

Make: MeiFeng M&E
Model: 60240

Make: SANYO
Model: 9SG1212P1G03 (note, violent fan)

DC48V Fan

Make: Sinwan Fan Motor
Model: MCD642SP-48HWB

Admin Portal

A web-based admin. portal is provided for setting parameters such as SSID of the AP to connect to, password, address for receiving e-mail notification, temperature thresholds, etc.

The parameters are stored in the on-board non-volatile flash memory and are automatically loaded upon power up.

Control & Monitoring Interface

Launching The Admin. Portal

Launching The Fan Control & Monitoring UI

* For the Fan Controller to send e-mail, the controller needs to be connected to an AP that has access to the internet. Also, valid e-mail address needs to be entered and stored via the Admin. Portal.

Controlling multiple fans with one fan controller

It's possible for one fan controller to control the speed of multiple fan of the same specs. (voltage, RPM, TACH, and PWM) by connecting the fans and the controller according to the diagram below.

Note that ONLY ONE fan's TACH reading will be read by the fan controller and ALL fans will receive the same PWM for fan speed control.

It's recommended that the max current consumption of all the fans combined be kept less than the recommended max. current supported by the fan controller and its protecting device.

Control and monitor fan over the internet

There are 2 ways to control and monitor fan over the internet. The first option is to redirect incoming WAN traffic to the fan controller using the port forwarding feature of the internet gateway / router.

The second option is to run a fan control and monitoring system on LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP). Below is a sample fan control and monitoring system for reference. This system is custom-made to meet the specific needs of clients.
