支援32GB SD Card, 可調整觸發距離, 可連網之危害告知器 - v2

功能說明:

本裝置透過超音波偵測環境中之物體, 當物體與本裝置間之距離小於預設值時將觸發本裝置之告警功能. 本裝置之觸發距離可以30公分為單位進行調整, 最遠可達300公分.

本裝置被觸發時可透過下列方式發出警報:

1. 透過內建 / 外接喇叭播放預先存放在SD Card (註1) 中之音聲訊息;
2. 透過外接之警示燈 (透過乾接點) 提供視覺訊息.
3. 透過網際網路對個人或群組發出E-Mail / Telegram等圖文訊息 (註2).

與使用紅外線感應之裝置相比, 由於超音波具有防強光 (太陽), 指向性, 波束窄, 及可測量與物體間距離之特性, 因此, 本裝置將可比使用紅外線感應之裝置更有效的防止誤動作之發生.

ESP32 - Compact breakout board for low power applications

This is a compact ESP32 breakout board for low power applications. To ensure minimum power consumption, aside from the ESP32-S module itself, all the other components that consume power have been removed.


This breakout board was developed for prototyping on PCB or a perf board. Instead of soldering the ESP32-S module to the PCB / perf board directly, this breakout board allows for the reuse of the ESP32-S module without the need to de-solder it.

This is an ESP32-S breakout board for low power applications. To minimize power consumption, all the components (LDO, LED, USB - Serial Chip, etc.) that consume power have been removed. The difference between this breakout board and the common NodeMCU-32S can be seen in the photo below (Left: Low Power Breakout Board, Right: NodeMCU-32S).

Internet connected ultrasonic alarm device with adjustable trigger range and SD Card support

This is a quick overview of a device that gives audio and visual alarm when it's triggered. The sensor used for object detection is an ultrasonic sensor with a triggering range from 1cm to 300cm and a beam angle of 30 degree from the point of origin. This triggering range is adjustable at 30cm interval via a dial in the front of the device and the set triggering range is visible via the 10 segments LED on top of the device.

The combination of narrower beam angle and adjustable triggering range makes this device an ideal candidate for applications that need to minimize false alarm.

Note,

This device uses SD Card (storage capacity up to 32GB) as its storage. The audio to be playback needs to be pre-recorded and stored in the SD Card. If you need to be able to record new audio on the spot and the audio is less than 40 seconds, please refer to the link below.

A solution for monitoring multiple air conditioning systems

This is a quick overview of a system that I developed to monitor the status of multiple air conditioning system (A/C) for a friend's company.

Background 

The friend's company has a 2-story building with over 20 rooms. Each room has at least one A/C installed. The A/Cs are controlled by the controller installed in the individual room and they cannot be centrally controlled / monitored. From time to time, the A/C will be left turned on for long period of time (over the weekend, etc.) until someone finds out about it and turn it off.

Due to safety concern, my friend doesn't want me to mess with the wiring of the A/C. He also doesn't want me to install additional powerline and power outlet around the A/C to provide power to the sensor used to monitor the A/C.

Solution For Control & Monitor Equipment In Outdoor Enclosures

Here is a solution developed for a client with thousands of outdoor equipment enclosures.

The client’s needs:
  • Remotely monitor and regulate the temperature inside each enclosure;
  • Remotely switch on / off individual equipment in the enclosure;
  • Protect circuit breaker from continuous tripping;
  • Able to reset the tripped breaker remotely;
  • Remotely monitor the status of the backup battery;
  • Provide comprehensive overview at a central location;
  • Provide field work groups with an overview of the enclosure status in their respective working area;
  • Send notice to the responsible work group upon the occurrence of an event that requires the group’s attention / intervention.

IOT Fish Tank

For the past couple of months I've been working on a project that allows me to monitor fish tank and feed the fishes.

The things that I want to do are the followings:

- Feed fishes automatically based on preset schedule or manually by pressing a button on the controller;

- Measure water temperature and water level;

- Measure the ambient light, temperature and humidity;

- Check on the fishes remotely;

- Be able to switch on / off peripherals such as lamp / pump / heater / etc. remotely.

After months of trials and errors and several revision of hardware and software, I am happy to present the result below.
